PEG Development Tools for Linux/X11 Host Are Available Now!

April 30, 2001-- Swell Software, Inc. announced today that the latest PEG software release, version 1.80, now includes full support for cross application development hosted on the Linux/X11 desktop environment. The PEG (Portable embedded GUI) software package from Swell Software, Inc. enables customers to write advanced applications with windowing capabilities and a customized look and feel. The PEG class library and development tool set is designed specifically for embedded systems. PEG's small footprint, high performance and event-driven programming model make it perfect for today's multi-threaded embedded applications using LCD and video displays and controllers. PEG is delivered with a complete GUI Toolkit for embedded systems. The package includes WindowBuilderTM - automatic generation of source code for PEG Windows and dialogs, ImageConvertTM - converting and ROM:ing bitmap images, and FontCaptureTM - generation of proprietary fonts.These popular PEG development tools are now available as X11 hosted utilities. FontCapture is a utility program that works in conjunction with the PEG library to allow the user to create and ROM any number of custom fonts. ImageConvert is also a very useful utility program that converts GIF, BMP, PNG, and JPG images into the ROMable PegBitmap format suitable for embedded systems.

These new utility programs illustrate the emphasis we have on meeting our customer's requirements. Customers who are targetting embedded Linux often prefer to use Linux-hosted development tools. This new release allows our customers to develope, compile, link, and run the full PEG application completely from within the Linux/X11 environment.
