KADAK Adds KwikPeg Graphical User Interface

VANCOUVER, CANADA - February 8, 2000 -- KADAK Products Ltd., supplier of the AMX™ RTOS which is at the heart of 3Com's PalmOS, today announced the addition of graphics support to its embedded software product line.

KADAK has merged GUI technology from Swell Software, Inc., a leading supplier of graphics for embedded system use, with KADAK's Configuration Builder to let developers speed through the configuration complexities inherent in the creation of any GUI.

The KwikPeg™ Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides the software interface required to add graphics to embedded products which incorporate any of KADAK's RTOS or network components. KwikPeg is especially suited for hand-held devices with their small LCD displays.

KwikPeg's small footprint, high performance and event driven programming model make it perfect for today's embedded applications. Besides the API and class library, a complete set of graphics development tools for C source code generation are provided. The KwikPeg Window Builder is a visual design tool for creating custom windows, dialogs and controls. Font Grabber captures TrueType and BDF fonts with Unicode character encoding, if needed. The Image Converter converts BMP, GIF and JPEG images into a compressed, ROMable binary format.

KwikPeg is available now. A KwikPeg site license is royalty-free and includes source code.

This announcement demonstrates KADAK's growing commitment to developers of portable devices incorporating graphic displays. The products listed below are evidence of the inroads KADAK is making in portable and graphic applications.

• The PalmPilot personal digital assistant by 3Com features AMX 68000 at the heart of PalmOS in this award-winning product. And now, third party developers are using AMX to further enhance the PalmPilot in new application areas.
• The PW364 ImageProcessor IC developed by PixelworksTM, Inc. is the first integrated flat panel display controller contained on a single chip. The PW364 performs video signal and frame rate conversion, image resizing and adaptive image optimization. Pixelworks' developers will find AMX 86 at the heart of the software development kit used for the creation of PW364 image processing applications.
• The Analog Devices, Inc. GSM/GPRS Baseband Digital Processor, used in cellular phone designs, incorporates AMX for Thumb.
